Michael Waltrip Racing is getting a new crew chief for next year and a new driver behind the wheel of its Number-00 Toyota for this weekend at Talladega. The organization announced Wednesday that veteran Crew chief Rboert "Bootie" Barker will join Waltrip on his Number-55 team for the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

Barker, currently at Haas CNC Racing, will replace Bobby Kennedy as crew chief at MWR. Kennedy will move into a management role with the organization. It was earlier confirmed that Kenny Wallace would replace rookie Michael McDowell in the team's Number-00 Toyota and attempt to qualify for Sunday's AMP Energy 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. Plans for the remaining six races are unclear, but they may include McDowell returning to that ride for a portion of the remaining schedule.

Paul Menard is leaving Dale Earnhardt, Inc. after this season to join Robert Yates Racing for the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. His family's Menards sponsorship will follow the driver to the new team. Menard is currently twenty-eighth in the point standings. Yates Racing is a two-car operation today (drivers David Gilliland and Travis Kvapil) with both teams presently among the Top 35 in Cup Series owner points.
