The City of Quitman has named a new chief of police. Kelly Cole, currently with the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, was selected by the City Council last night after a lengthy executive session. Cole is expected to take over the reigns of the department in mid-December. Cole will replace Bill Wansley who was elected Wood County Sheriff earlier this year and will assume that role on January 1st. Cole is already familiar with the Quitman PD. He currently sits on the Quitman City Council and will have to resign his position before taking over as chief. |
