Canton entered the game 3-0 in district 14-3A play, and from the opening whistle, they looked and played like the top team in their district. In the second quarter, the Lady Vandals made a run as Sarah Milewski scored 7 of her teams 17 points to cut the Canton lead to 23-20 by half time. That would be as close as the Van Lady Vandals would get as the Eaglettes went on a 8-0 to start the third quarter. The Canton Eaglettes held the Van Lady Vandals to only 10 second half points while scoring 24 second half points. WIth the win, the Eaglettes improve to 4-0 in district 14-3A. Van falls to 3-1.
In game two, the rolls would be reversed. Canton came out of the locker room on fire and it appeared early on as if the Eagles would run away from Van. That only lasted 4 minutes into the first quarter as Van got things together to make a late run and take a 15-14 lead after one quarter of play. Van was led in scoring by Jordan Schmid who finished with a game high 17 points, 12 of those points coming in the second half. Grant Franklin, 13 points, Roy Denbow and Devon Talley, 12 points a piece led the way for the Canton Eagles who at the half only trailed 25-22. Ten of Denbow's 12 points came from the free throw line, with 6 of those in the first 16 minutes of the game. The Eagles finished, 17 of 29 from the free throw line in the game. In the second half, the Van Vandals took control of the game allowing Canton only 23 points the rest of the way while scoring 35 points. Up next, the Canton Ealglettes and Eagles will travel to take on Kemp. Van Lady Vandals and Vandals will play host to Eustace Friday evening.
