Grand Saline police officers and FBI investigators are searching for a man who held up a bank in Grand Saline this morning. Grand Saline Chief of Police Larry Compton said the man walked in to Mineola Community Bank around 10:45 this morning, showed the teller a semi-automatic hand gun and asked for cash. Compton said the man took the money and left the bank on foot. Bank employees reported seeing the man go through the trees near the bank. Officers used dogs to rack the suspect, but lost the scent near Houston Street. Compton said that leads them to believe the man may have gotten into a car and left the area. Officers say the man was wearing a blue shirt, was approximately 5' 7" to 5' 9" tall and 180 pounds. Several people in the area reported seeing a man near the area and officers spent most of the morning gathering statements from witnesses. Police also used a helicopter to search the wooded area near the bank. Police did not disclise how much money was taken but did release surveillance video showing the robber speaking to the teller. No one was injured in the robbery and Compton said the bank's employees did exactly what they were supposed to do. Stay tuned to KMOO and kmoo.com for updates. |
