Police officers have arrested a man they say robbed a Grand Saline bank on Monday. Grand Saline Police Chief Larry Compton said Carl Ray Davis, 32, turned himself in late Tuesday afternoon. Officers arrested a man Monday evening that they say was driving the getaway car in the bank heist. Jay McEvers was arrested on an unrelated charge, but reportedly later admitted he had driven Davis away from the scene Monday. Police and FBI agents spent most of Monday morning searching a perimeter southwest of the Mineola Community Bank branch in Grand Saline, after witnesses said they saw the robber flee into a wooded area. Compton said search dogs had picked up a scent but lost it around Houston Street, leading authorities to believe the robber got into a car and left the area. Davis is charged with Aggrevated Robbery and is being held in the Van Zandy County jail on a $150,000 bond. |
