| The Mineola ISD Veteran's Day program began with the recognition of the oldest veteran in Wood county, Mr. James Dear. The high school students of Mineola led this presentation with honor and gratitude toward our veterans. The first grade choir along with high school student, Andrea Valek sang American Tears. Elementary student, Brooke Sims followed with her poem to the United States veterans in attendnace. The key speaker was Captain A.D. Mack, Retired, US Army and father of high school student, Ethan Mack. Captain Mack spoke to the students about the importance of their freedom and to remember that it is never free. The price was paid for their freedom and part of that freedom is receiving an education. Captain Mack ended his speech by quoting President John F. Kennedy,"Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." The MHS Trumpeteers played TAPS as the attendees held a moment of silence in remembrance of those who have served and are currently serving our country. The program came to a close as the MHS band played and the crowd sang God Bless America. |
