The UIL released the new district realignments for the next two years. The realignments only affect football and basketball programs in the state of Texas. The Mineola Yellow Jackets will move down from 3A to District 7, Conference 2A Division 1. With the move, an old rivalry will be renewed when the Yellow Jackets and the Grand Saline Indians face off in football later this year. Alone with Mineola and Grand Saline in District 7 will be, Caddo Mills, Melissa, Quitman and Winnsboro. Staying in Conference 2A Division 1, the Harmony Eagles will play out of District 9 along with, New Diana, Gladewater Sabine, Jefferson, Tatum and White Oak. Conference 2A Division 2 has one district containing two teams with in the KMOO listening area, and that is district 6 which will house Alba-Golden, Corsicana Mildred, Edgewood, Lone Oak, Red Oak Life and Scurry-Rosser. With Edgewood realignment, they will no longer be the only team with-in their district that is in the 903 area code. The conference 2A basketball will contain a total of eight teams in the KMOO listening area. In District 18 is an eight team district consisting of Alba-Golden, Como-Pickton, Edgewood, Grand Saline, Lone Oak, Mineola, Quitman and Winnsboro. In District 19, there is Harmony, Daingerfield, New Diana, Gladewater Union Grove, Hughes Springs, Ore City and White Oak. The only conference that doesn't split their football and basketball programs up is 3A. District 14 will be made up of Canton, Emory Rains, Quinlan Ford, Van, Wills Point and a team who has moved from being a small 4A team to a large 3A team now in the Lindale Eagles. District 16 will house Carthage, Gilmer, Gladewater, Henderson, Longview Spring Hill and Pittsburg. Rounding out conference 3A is District 17 which will consist of Athens, Brownsboro, Bullard, Rusk and Tyler Chapel Hill. With the realignments set for the next two years, this should make for some interesting match-ups. Some new rivalries will be made, and some old ones renewed.
