It took a Wood County jury more than two hours to find William Isaacs not guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon Tuesday afternoon. Testimony in the trail began at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning and the court sent the case to the jurors.
The jury sent out two notes during deliberations asking about their instructions.

Winnsboro police say they have seen an increase in counterfeit money being used at local businesses. Lt. Andy Chester says two Winnsboro businesses have received fake ten-dollar and twenty-dollar bills during last weekend alone.
Officers describe the suspects in the cases as two black females, possibly traveling in a gold or tan Chevrolet or Saturn car. The counterfeit bills discovered so far have had identical serial numbers.

Police officers have arrested a man they say robbed a Grand Saline bank on Monday. Grand Saline Police Chief Larry Compton said Carl Ray Davis, 32, turned himself in late Tuesday afternoon.

Officers arrested a man Monday evening that they say was driving the getaway car in the bank heist. Jay McEvers was arrested on an unrelated charge, but reportedly later admitted he had driven Davis away from the scene Monday.

Van Zandt County authorities say what they thought was a car accident, turned out to be a murder.
The Sheriff's Department said they were called to the scene of an accident on County Road 4907 around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday. A witness at the scene told deputies one of the victims of the crash had possibly been stabbed. Deputies found Jonathan Shipman lying on the ground suffering from multiple stab wounds. A woman, Shelly Rackow, had also been injured in the accident.

Authorities are looking for a man who held up a Winnsboro pharmacy Friday afternoon.
Winnsboro Police say a man walked into Bells Pharmacy around 1:45 p.m., showed the clerk a large hunting knife and asked for the pain killer Oxycontin.
Police say he left the store with 250 pills. No one was injured. Authorities say they believe the same man was at another local pharmacy earlier in the day and was caught on the store video surveillance camera.
Police described the man as a white male, 6' 2" tall, wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans, and driving a gray, possibly Ford, panel van.
UPDATE: 4:15 p.m. - Franklin County Deputies believe they may have found the suspect during a routine traffic stop. The suspect was arrested for a previous, outstanding warrant. Winnsboro officers are continuing the investigation. |

Van Zandt County authorities say they have made a major bust in a crime ring that, in their words, “wreaked havoc on residents of Van Zandt County.”
It all began on two weeks ago on September 21, when deputies were dispatched to a location off FM-3227 after a report of home being burglarized.
Shortly after deputies left that location, the same deputies were sent to a residence off Cherry Creek on another burglary call. Then around 7:30 p.m. Canton Police Department came stopped two individuals, identified as Brooklynn Nieto and Jeremy Blalock, who were in a vehicle that was reported stolen earlier in the day in Van Zandt County. Officer’s realized that the vehicle was full of possibly stolen items.

Officers were chasing a female subject near Scroggins when the woman lost control of her vehicle and wrecked.
Officers were chasing the vehicle on Hwy 11 while other officers deployed spikes along the roadway in an effort to stop the woman. However, before the woman got to the spikes, she turned off onto County Road 4415, near Scroggins.
Moments latter, she lost control on the wet pavement near Hwy 115 and CR-4415. The woman was taken into custody. No word on any possible injuries. |

Wood County Sheriff's deputies are asking for help in tracking down clues from an overnight burglary of a convenience store. Investigator Jerry Blaylock said Kelly's Corner, located on US-69 and FM-779 was broken into overnight.
Blaylock said the crime occurred between 11 p.m. Wednesday evening and 3 a.m. Thursday morning. Details remain sketchy and officers are still investigating the case. However, they say they believe a car was parked near the roadway and the burglar or burglars walked up to the store before breaking in.
Officers are asking anyone who might have seen a vehicle in the area overnight is asked to contact crime stoppers or the Wood County Sheriff's Department. |

A Van Zandt County man shot his wife's grandmother and then turned the gun on himself.
Deputies say they received a 9-1-1 call around 3 p.m. Monday from a woman who said her husband had shot her grandmother. Deputes responded to an address near Wills Point on County Road 3818.
