After an hour of closing arguments, twelve Wood County jurors slowly filed out of the district court room in Quitman to begin considering whether or not Jason Tad Payne is guilty of murdering his wife and step-son.
The presentations by the prosecution and the defense wraps several days of testimony and hundred of items of evidence in the trial.
During his closing statements, District Attorney Jim Wheeler made the same arguement he made more than a week ago, saying Payne shot and killed his wife and step-son and staged a scene to make it appear his step-son killed himself.

Testimony continues Wednesday in the trial of Jason Tad Payne. Defense attorneys called Noel Martin to the stand to testify about his investigation of the death of Payne's wife and step-son.
Martin told the jury he was asked to process evidence at the scene by Texas Ranger Phillip Kemp. Martin said he analysed blood splatter and plotted bullet trajectories.
When asked directly by the defense attorney, Martin said he believed Payne's step-son had committed suicide. Late last week, the prosecution called two expert witnesses who disagreed with Martin, saying it was impossible for the step-son to have shot himself with the rifle found at the scene.
