A house caught fire yesterday afternoon in Mineola.

According to the Mineola Police Department, the home at 309 Miller Street went up in flames around 3 p.m.

The Mineola Fire Department worked to extinguish the blaze. The home was severely damaged in the fire.

“The fire damage was to the kitchen and living room and there was smoke and heat damage to the rest of the house,” said Mineola Fire Chief David Madsen.

“The house was pretty much a total loss.”

No injuries were reported in this fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
