With recent rainfall across East Texas, water levels on area lakes have begun to rise. Lake Fork is up a foot band a half since January 1. The current water level at Lake Fork is just over 397 feet above sea level. “It is a good start,” said KMOO Staff Meteorologist Doc Deason. “But we still have a lot of ground to make up from the drought we’ve seen in recent years.” Deason said Lake Fork is not quite to pool, but is getting closer with every significant rainfall. Other East Texas Lakes are seeing the same, slowly climbing to typical levels. Toledo Bend’s levels are nearly two feet higher than January 1, and levels at Lake Tyler and Lake Palestine are both over a foot higher than a month ago. |
