East Texans will roll out their blankets and crack open the ice box this week in celebration of America's independence. From Winnsboro to Mineola, and Hawkins to Canton, citizens of KMOO Country will have plenty of activities to choose from this Fourth of July Holiday. The fireworks display over Lake Hawkins, demonstrated by the Hawkins Volunteer Fire Department, will be held Tuesday, July 3rd, around 9 p.m. Contributions to fund the fireworks are being accepted by the Hawkins Fire Department. On Wednesday, July 4th, Mineola will celebrate the fourth with a “Wet’n’Wild Day of Fun and Fireworks.” The Mineola Civic Center grounds will host numerous water slides, vendors, food and refreshments. The fireworks display will begin at dark. In Winnsboro, a 4th of July parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, followed by family fun at City Park starting at 5 p.m., plus Sundown Farmers Market until 9 p.m. The American Legion Post 340 and the A.L. Auxiliary will sponsor the parade. Fireworks in Winnsboro will begin at dusk. The City of Canton will be home to a fourth of July parade Wednesday evening beginning at 7:30 p.m., sponsored by the Canton Chamber of Commerce. Vendors will be on hand to celebrate on the downtown square. A fireworks display will begin around 9 p.m. west of the First Monday grounds. |
