A Gilmer man is dead after an early Sunday morning car accident.

According to DPS, 23-year-old Karl Oney Jr. was killed when his pickup overturned on  Bluebird Road, just before 6 a.m.

Authorities say Oney Jr.'s truck was traveling westbound when he overcorrected and the vehicle ran off the road into an embankment and overturned.

Oney Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene.
