Released by the Better Business Bureau of East Texas

Lindale, TX – If your business is drowning in paper, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) has some guidelines for what you should keep and how long to keep it. To protect your own and your customers’ identities, shred anything with private or financial information before you discard it.

“Companies need to keep good records to stay on top of their business and, in some cases, to protect themselves from litigation,” said Mechele Agbayani Mills, President and CEO of BBB Central East Texas. “A retention program that regularly reviews and destroys unneeded documents can reduce clutter and make it easier to manage day-to-day.”

On Wednesday, October 24, companies and individuals can shred up to three hundred pounds of paper per vehicle at no charge at the next BBB ‘Shred Day’ at the Lindale Chamber of Commerce Offices. Ark La Tex Shredding is generously donating the shredding service.

Shredder trucks will be on hand from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Information on identity theft protection also will be available.  Computer Recycling will also be available courtesy of MCS Technology.“We’re excited about hosting our first Shred Day in the Lindale area”, said Shelbie Glover, Executive Director of the Lindale Chamber of Commerce. “Identity theft continues to increase in our area, and we want to help prevent Lindale residents and business owners from becoming victims.”
