Grand Saline, Van, Wills Point, Fruitvale and Edgewood Independent School District's are on precautionary lockdown this afternoon.
District officials say in the wake of the shooting death of a Kaufman County Assistant District Attorney near the Kaufman County Courthouse today, and a manhunt that has ensued, no children will be allowed outside today and no one will be leaving school early. All doors at all schools have been locked.
Authorities believe the suspects may have headed toward Van Zandt County after the killing.
In Edgewood, school officials have implemented precautionary lockdown in part due to the same shooting. A manhunt southwest of Edgewood for a Van Zandt County man wanted on a felony warrant has also influenced the district's decision. All students will remain indoors today at Edgewood ISD and all doors have been locked.
