VZ County authorities investigate Injury to a Child

Released by the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office

On January 31, 2013 the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office was notified by Child Protective Services and responded to a rural residence near Grand Saline concerning a seriously injured seven week old child.
Emergency Medical Services were notified and the child was immediately transported to Children’s Medical Center Hospital in Dallas. The Sheriff’s Office and the Van Zandt County Criminal District Attorney’s Office immediately began a criminal investigation.
On February 3, 2013 the child was released from Children’s Medical Center Hospital to foster care. Child Protective Services has initiated an open case investigation.
On February 8, 2013 the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office traveled to Rains County and arrested three individuals for Injury to a Child/Causing Serious Bodily Injury. The adults were identified as the following each out of Emory: 19 year old Kayla Fountain, 22 year old Sean Alsip, and 33 year old Lejuana Alsip. All three individuals were transported to the Van Zandt County Jail in Canton and incarcerated with $500,000 bonds each.
