An East Texas man has been jailed after evading Federal authorities Tuesday in Rains County. According to the Point Police Department, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force served an Aggravated Assault warrant on John David Weathers Tuesday morning at an apartment in Emory. Weithers fled the apartment. After officers set up a perimeter, Rains County placed a request for helicopter support from DPS. The chopper arrived just as it began to get dark, and the pilot guided deputies to the suspect’s hiding place in the woods where he was arrested without incident. Weithers was booked into the Rains County Jail on the U.S. Marshal’s warrant. |
