A sex offender was sentenced to life in prison Monday in Wood County.
Judge Timothy Boswell assessed 47-year-old Robert Karl Nunley of Gilmer a sentence of a life in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in an Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child Case. Additionally, Nunley was sentenced to 20 years in prison for Indecency with a Child Sexual Contact.
After empnaelling a Wood County Jury in April, Nunley pleaded guilty to both charges.
Both victims were interviewed at the Northeast texas Child Advocacy Center. Wood County District Attorney Jim Wheeler said the work of the Advocacy Center was essential to a successful prosecution in the case.
Wheeler said he appreciates the extensive time and preparation put into this case by his staff, and participating agencies.
