A home burned to the ground late Thursday night just outside of Wills Point.
Wills Point, Edgewood, Myrtle Springs, Elmo, and College Mound Volunteer Fire Department's responded to the scene. Van Zandt County Fire Marshal was assisted by the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office and American Red Cross. Allen says it's believed the cause of fire could be arson. Anyone with information is asked to call crimestoppers at 903-567-STOP.
Allen says the house was tied up in probate court for years and was recently awarded to family who were working on re-doing the house. Thieves had taken all copper out of the home. The house had recently been known to have vagrants and was used as a place to cook dope. The house completely surrounded a 12-foot deep swimming pool.
The home was believed to be valued at $250,000.
