|Smith County Deputy wrecks patrol car|

A Smith County Sheriff's Deputy was involved weather related car accident early Wednesday morning.
According to the Smith County Sheriff's Department, at approximately 1:15 this morning, while responding to a disturbance on Highway 31 East, Smith County Sheriff’s Deputy Candice Vaughan was involved in a one-vehicle accident at the intersection of East Loop 323 and McDonald Road. Deputy Vaughan’s vehicle hydroplaned and left the Loop, striking a tree on the driver’s side.
Deputy Vaughan sustained injuries in the accident and was transported to Mother Frances Hospital, where she was treated and later released.
The vehicle is totaled and the accident is under investigation.
