Three people were injured, and one man arrested in a shooting Monday night in the Enchanted Lakes area of Smith County.

According to the Smith County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 9:50 Monday evening, The Smith County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of a shooting in the 23000 block of Dogwood Trail. Arriving on the scene, deputies discovered three individuals who had received injuries from a shotgun blast, which was fired by Jerry Gene Allen, age 56, who lives at a residence on Dogwood Trail.

Reports indicate that Allen and others had been drinking at a bonfire gathering in the neighborhood when he got into an altercation with several individuals.  Allen left the location and then went into his home and retrieved a shotgun. He then fired the shotgun, hitting a man and two women, causing non-life threatening injuries. EMS responded and treated those who were hit. Two of the victims were transported to a Tyler area hospital.

Allen was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily Injury.

Several units from the Sheriff's Office and one from the Lindale Police Department responded to the call.
