Written by Clayton Neville

This weekend Lake Fork will host the nation’s largest High School fishing tournament.

On the line, $15,000 in scholarships and prizes. The Lake Fork Open is open to all U.S. high school students. High school anglers from all over East Texas, the state, and the country will pack the lake this weekend. The tournament will be held out of Oak Ridge Marina. Tournament officials say this will be another oppurtunity to expose the lake to the entire nation, and give a boost to the local economy.

High school fishing is growing rapidly in popularity across the country. In KMOO Country alone, four high schools are now members of the the B.A.S.S. High School Nation.
