07/30/14 through 08/05/14

July 30

Deputy Donivan South, Sgt. William Burge and Lt. Kelly Smith responded to a residence on east US Hwy 80 for a domestic disturbance involving weapons. The deputies arrived to find two men having a conversation and identified both men. The weapons involved were located and secured. While attempting to determine what had occurred, the deputies were told several conflicting versions of the events involving the two men. After telling several fictitious versions, the complainant decided to tell the truth about the disturbance. According to the man, he and the other man are in a same sex relationship and an argument began the previous night over the other man eating the complainant’s cheese. The arguing continued to escalate to the point of each of the men threatening the other with a gun. Alex Braden Hagood, 27, of Mineola was arrested for the offense of aggravated assault of date/family/household member with weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Dale Allen Cater, 56, of Mineola was arrested for aggravated assault of date/family/household member with weapon.

 

Deputy Dustin Moffett took a report of burglary of a habitation from a complainant on CR 2774. According to the woman, a large sum of cash was missing from a locked desk drawer inside her home. An X-Box 360, along with several X-Box games were also missing as were several bath towels and wash cloths. The woman further stated the items were last observed in place on July 21 and discovered missing on July 25. There were no signs of forced entry into either the house or desk drawer. Total value of the missing items is over $3,000. This case has been forwarded for additional investigation.

July 31

Deputy Justin Wallis took a report of phone harassment from a woman who resides on SH 37. The woman advised she has received approximately 15 phone calls from her boyfriend’s ex-wife. The woman further advised the ex-wife began calling her phone after her boyfriend started ignoring the calls from his ex. Wallis was able to listen to voice mails left by the ex-wife. This case has been assigned to an investigator.

 

Deputy Donivan South was dispatched to S FM 14 for a burglary of a habitation. The complainant advised that his granddaughter’s bedroom had been broken into and no other room in the house was touched. According to the granddaughter, her bedroom window has been broken for several years and has never been repaired. Several items were missing from the bedroom including methadone wafers, a James Avery charm bracelet, straight iron, and a curling iron. The total value of the missing items is almost $800. Information was recorded concerning a possible suspect who knew the window was broken. This case has been forwarded to CID.

August 1

Sgt. Chris Turner took a report of theft of service from an employee of Sharon Water at a residence on CR 4200. Turner was shown a water meter that had been tampered with in order for the residence to have unmetered water. According to the reporting party, the current resident at the location did not appear to have been involved and he believed the previous tenants were responsible for altering the meter. This case remains under investigation.

 

Deputy Steven Fields took a report of burglary of a habitation from a woman who resides on CR 2263. According to the woman she returned home after a 10 hour absence to find several items missing from inside her residence including a 32” LG TV, a Wii game console and games, a gold ring and a Dell laptop. The total value of the missing items is over $1,100.  The woman further stated she found the deadbolt still locked when she returned home. There were no signs of forced entry noted. This case has been forwarded to CID.

 

August 2

Deputy Aaron Warren took a theft report from a man who resides at Holly Lake Ranch who stated he was missing a 5x8 utility trailer from his residence. The man advised the trailer was at his residence when he left home on July 30 and was missing when he returned on this day.  The trailer is valued at $800. This case was forwarded for additional investigation.

 

Deputy Aaron Warren took a theft report from a man who owns a rental property on CR 3230. According to the complainant, a paint spraying machine is missing from behind the residence and a wooden storage cabinet is missing from inside the residence. The man further stated the current tenant is being evicted and he suspects she may be involved in the thefts. Information about the tenant was recorded and the case has been forwarded to Investigations.

 

Deputy Steven Fields took a report of burglary of a building from a woman who owns property at Holly Lake. According to the woman, she owns the trailer but does not live there and only visits the property every couple of weeks to check the mail. She further stated she arrived on this day to find four window units missing along with a couch and loveseat. Trash and empty beer cans that were not there when the woman last checked were also found inside the trailer. Entry is believed to have been gained through a front door which the woman stated could simply be pushed open. Information was recorded about a possible suspect. This case has been forwarded for additional investigation.

 

August 3

Deputy Steven Fields was dispatched to a residence on CR 2958 for a structure fire. Fields arrived to the find the fire department already on scene. The fire department was able to contain the fire before it consumed the home. According to fireman at the scene, the blaze appeared to have started in the area of a window where an air conditioning unit was located. Although water and electricity were still in service to the residence, neighbors advised no one was living at the residence. This case has been turned over to the Fire Marshal.

 

August 4

Deputies Steven Fields and Austin Cryer were dispatched to CR 2941 for a disturbance just after midnight. Deputies located a large knife on the front patio and went inside where they spoke with a man who had sustained a cut on his hand. The man advised he had been cut by a female acquaintance. Deputies relocated to the woman’s apartment and found her to have cuts on one of her wrists. According to the woman, the cuts were self-inflicted. EMS was summoned and the woman’s wrist was bandaged. She refused transport. After speaking further with both parties and a witness, Amber Thompson Hawkins, 38, of Golden was arrested for the offense of aggravated assault of date/family/household member with weapon and was transported to jail without incident.

 

Deputy Dustin Moffett took a report of criminal mischief which occurred on S FM 2869. According to the complainant, she allowed a friend to use her car to visit the father of her child. While at the residence, the man became angry and punched the car’s windshield from inside the car, causing it to crack. The complainant stated she had contacted her insurance company who advised her that a replacement windshield would cost $500. She also advised that she did wish to pursue criminal charges against the man for the damage. This case has been forwarded to CID.

 

Deputy Dustin Moffett was dispatched to a residence at Holly Lake Ranch for a domestic disturbance. The complainant stated she had been assault by her common law husband who had since left the residence. The woman further advised the man became angry and pushed her to the floor after being told they did not have any money for beer. According to Moffett’s report he did not observe any visible injuries on the woman who claimed she did not wish to pursue charges. An incident report was completed for documentation purposes.

 

Deputy Dustin Moffett took a theft report from a complainant at Holly Lake Ranch who stated he was missing a black Craftsman lawnmower valued at approximately $3,500 from a shed next to his residence. He further stated be believes the theft occurred between the hours of 10 AM and 6:30 PM while he was away from his residence. This case has been turned over to an investigator.

 

August 5

Deputy Justin Wallis took a theft report from a man who stated his Lowrance depth finder was stolen from his boat while it was stored at his friend’s residence on CR 1612. The depth finder is valued at $1,700. This case has been forwarded to CID.

 

CID Summary

Captain Miles Tucker and Sgt. Josh O’Grady investigated several thefts in the Holly Lake Ranch area.  Investigators identified suspects involved and recovered all property that was stolen.  Warrants will be issued and property will be returned to the owners.

Several cases were closed which involved assaults and criminal mischief.

Warrants were issued for two individuals for assault and sexual assault.

A warrant was issued for theft of a four wheeler.
