news vehicle burglaryThe Smith County Sheriff’s Office has seen a rise in vehicle burglaries throughout the county. Most of the offenses have occurred late at night and involved unlocked vehicles.

The suspects are targeting neighborhoods and are looking for vehicles that have been left unlocked. The suspects then go through the vehicle taking property that has been left unsecured by the owner.

The Smith County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help with this problem. We ask that you please remove any keys and lock all of your vehicles. Remove any valuables from the vehicle or place them out of sight. Try to park in a lighted area and please report any suspicious activity to law enforcement immediately.
