CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital Receives an “A” for Patient Safety

The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit organization committed to driving quality, safety, and transparency in the U.S. health care system, today released new Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades, which assign A, B, C, D and F letter grades to hospitals nationwide. CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital - Tyler was one of 823 hospitals to receive an “A” for its commitment to reducing errors, infections, and accidents that can harm patients.
“Patient Safety is a critical component of our care at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System,” said Fadi Nasrallah, M.D., Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Quality Officer. “Our entire medical staff and every member of our team give their all every day to ensure that our patients are cared for in the safest environment possible, and we will continue to build upon this success and seek to continually improve patient safety at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System.”
“To be recognized with an ‘A’ by Leapfrog is an honor we are very proud to receive,” said Jason Proctor, Chief Operating Officer, CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital - Tyler and the CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Louis and Peaches Owen Heart Hospital. “Without the tireless dedication of the medical staff, physicians and all our Associates over the course of many years, this honor would not be possible. Earning recognition for our safety is a wonderful indication of the commitment CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital - Tyler exhibits toward our mission to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ toward Northeast Texas.”
“Hospitals that earn top marks nationally in the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, ‘have achieved the highest safety standards in the country,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “That takes commitment from every member of the hospital staff, who all deserve thanks and congratulations when their hospitals achieve an ‘A’ Safety Grade.”
Developed under the guidance of an Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
