This afternoon two lads from the Hawkins area went into the overflow outlet for Lake Hawkins... little did they know that they were being followed by a 6 to 7 foot alligator. Once the alligator was discovered, the boys climbed up on a platform/baffle away from the gator but we're subsequently held there by said alligator. Game Warden Kurt Kelly was contacted to procure a flat bottomed boat for the rescue, but in the interim the boys' father arrived and waded in to get them. (Fathers are great!!) The boys and their dad made it back to safety. ALLIGATORS are predators!! Don't go where they hang out!!! Don't feed them...they aren't pets. Be SMART & be SAFE!!
