Mineola Police Department – Weekly News Report

Thursday, November 1, 2018

8:46am Lindale P.D. reported a stolen motorcycle headed toward the city. An officer located the motorcycle at Loop 564 and FM 1801. The driver, Billy Bob Basham, 27, Fruitvale, was arrested for No motorcycle license. Lindale P.D. came to the scene to investigate the allegation of the stolen motorcycle. The owner of the motorcycle did not file charges.

10:23am A dispute was reported on McWhorter Street between family members. Officers responded to the residence and spoke with both parties. The dispute was settled.

11:05am A student reported his MISD laptop stolen.

11:12am A woman reported a small child out in the parking lot of a business on North Pacific Street without adult supervision.  The incident had occurred the day before.

11:23am Officers assisted EMS with a medical call on West Kilpatrick. The woman was transported to a Tyler hospital.

3:30pm A reckless driver was reported on East Broad Street that was unable to maintain a single lane of traffic. An officer responded to the call and located the vehicle in the parking lot of a business on East Broad Street. The officer made contact with the individual and found no signs of intoxication.

6:33pm A resident on Wigley Street reported suspicious activity at a vacant residence. An officer responded to the call and found the residence was being remodeled.

7:16pm A business on NW Loop 564 reported an ex-employee that would not give their key back. The key was given back by the time the officer arrived and the ex-employee was not there.

8:28pm Multiple calls were received involving a reckless driver traveling north in the southbound lane at South Pacific and Loop 564. A Wood County Deputy located the vehicle and was able to get the driver stopped. An officer assisted on the stop.

9:41pm 3 vehicles were reportedly doing donuts in the parking lot at the Mineola Football Stadium on Loop 564. An officer responded to the area, but did not find the vehicles involved. They had left before the officer arrived.

9:46pm 3 bales of hay were reportedly in the middle of the northbound lane at South Pacific and Loop 564. A vehicle hit the hay before Wood County or local officers arrived. Officers assisted with directing traffic until DPS arrived.

10:06pm Officers assisted a DPS Trooper at Loop 564 and South Pacific Street on a traffic stop.

11:05pm A welfare concern was reported when a 911 call was received from a child who stated their mother was at work and their father was asleep.  Officers made contact with the father and the child at the residence on Meadowbrook. The child was fine.

11:53am Walmart reported suspicious activity with some subjects inside the store. Officers arrived and found one of the subjects, Brianna Michelle Little, 24, of Mineola was wanted for an outstanding warrant out of Dallas County. Little was arrested for a Probation violation for Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Friday, November 2, 2018

12:53am A man from Florida reported he was lost and requested an officer meet him at a convenience store on North Pacific to show him how to work his GPS. An officer responded and put the address in the GPS for him.

2:45pm A woman called 911 but did not know where she lived, since she had just moved here. A family member called 911 again to give the address on Johnson Street. An officer, EMS and First Responders responded to the call, but the woman refused all services.

4:53pm A reckless driver was reported on South Pacific Street headed northbound that ran a stop sign and almost hit the caller. An officer responded to the call and located the vehicle and got the vehicle stopped at the Walmart Parking lot. The driver was issued two warnings.

5:41pm A motorist assist was requested at North Pacific and McDonald Street. An officer responded and pushed the vehicle off the roadway. The officer gave the woman a ride to Pizza Hut to wait for family to pick her up.

7:50pm Louis Lee Morrow, 56, of Mineola was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance over 1 gram under 4 grams (Meth), Possession of Marijuana and Tampering with Evidence, after he was stopped for an expired registration on West Broad Street. Morrow threw the drugs out of the window as he was being stopped.

8:53pm A verbal disturbance was reported on North Johnson Street between an ex-wife and ex-husband. An officer responded to the call and reported the ex-wife was able to get her belongings and leave.

Saturday, November 3, 2018

5:20pm A theft was reported at a business on NE Loop 564. This is under investigation.

5:34pm A reckless driver was reported that reportedly ran some vehicles off the roadway. An officer responded to the call and got the vehicle stopped as the vehicle was turning into a residence on Graham Street. The driver denied that he was reckless.

8:21pm A burn violation was reported on East Broad Street. An officer responded and had the resident put the fire out.

Sunday, November 4, 2018

2:01am An officer checked on a suspicious vehicle that was reportedly parked on North Johnson Street for an extended amount of time with the lights on and unoccupied. It was determined to belong to a resident that left their lights on.

9:51am A disturbance was reported on Church Street. Dornell Lamar Lipscomb, 34, of Mineola was arrested for Assault with Bodily Injury (Family Violence) after it was reported that he punched a family member in the face.

3:16pm A debit card was found in the ATM at a bank on North Pacific Street. The owner of the card was notified and it was returned.

4:25pm A disturbance was reported on West Blair Street. The disturbance was determined to be between an adult son and his father. No charges were filed. The son was transported to another location for the night. A report was filed for family violence purposes.

6:15pm A reckless driver was reported on South Pacific Street. An officer was able to the get the vehicle stopped on West Broad Street. Citations were issued.

6:26pm A theft was reported at a residence on West Kilpatrick Street. This is under investigation.

8:45pm A verbal disturbance was reported on West Blair Street.

9:03pm A man reported fraudulent charges on his Valero fuel card. The Valero station on South Pacific Street was checked for a skimmer. Nothing was found.

Monday, November 5, 2018

4:18am EMS requested assistance in finding an address on North Pacific Street. An officer assisted them in finding the correct location.

8:33am A wallet was found in the roadway at West Broad and Loop 564. The owner was located and the wallet was returned.

10:31am A woman reported suspicious activity in the Walmart parking lot when she thought a man was taking a license plate off a vehicle in the parking lot. An officer responded to the call and found that the man was replacing a license plate light on his vehicle.

1:21pm A resident brought a check to the department he received in the mail because he thought it could be fraudulent. An officer determined the check to be good.

7:03pm A reckless driver was reported on East Broad Street. An officer got the vehicle stopped on Newsom Street. The driver did not show any signs of intoxication.

Tuesday, November 6, 2018

6:40pm A resident on Ivey Street reported an ex-brother-in law harassing her. An officer spoke with the resident and determined no offense had occurred.

6:47pm A welfare concern was reported when an anonymous person reported a concern for 3 children that were in a yard with 6 to 8 big dogs on University Street. An officer responded to the call, but did not find the dogs or children in the yard.

8:31pm A clerk at a business on East Broad Street reported a female in the store that was upset and cursing. An officer responded to the call, but the female had left the establishment before an officer arrived.

9:05pm A clerk at a business on East Broad reported the same woman started calling the business phone harassing the clerk. An officer called the suspect and advised her to stop the harassment or charges would be filed.

Wednesday, November 7, 2018

3:26am While on patrol, an officer witnessed a suspicious person dressed in black, walking on North Newsom Street. The officer made contact with the man and determined it to be a citizen out for a walk.

7:32pm A woman on West Kilpatrick Street reported her vehicle being keyed. An officer responded and found words carved on the side of her vehicle. The woman had a suspect in mind. This is under investigation.

10:29am A man on West Kilpatrick accidentally locked his child in the vehicle. An officer responded and unlocked the vehicle. The child was fine.

10:42am Lindale P.D. sent a teletype on a welfare concern involving an elderly man. An officer found the man walking on North Pacific Street and he was fine. The man was looking for some friends in the area.

11:38am A man reported he lost a grey backpack with a phone and medication in it. If anyone finds the backpack notify the department.

3:08pm A reckless driver was reported on South Pacific that was passing in the median and the shoulder of the roadway. An officer responded to the area but did not locate the vehicle.

3:28pm An intoxicated female was reportedly at Whataburger attempting to leave in her vehicle. An officer responded and found the female that was intoxicated sitting in her vehicle. An officer called a family member to pick her up.

6:36pm People yelling in the area were reported on Newsom Street. An officer responded and found a family having a birthday party.

10:01pm Officers assisted a man that fell in a parking lot on North Pacific Street. The man was checked out by EMS and then an officer took him home.

10:14pm Officers assisted EMS on a child that was unable to breathe on Ivey Street. The child was transported to a Tyler hospital.
