9:43pm A 911 call was received from a passenger on the Amtrak train stating a female was going through her luggage. During the investigation of the allegation, it was determined the suspect had an outstanding warrant out of Dallas County for Violation of Probation. Melanie Lashawn Farris, 41 of Dallas was arrested for the warrant. Officers did not find that the suspect took anything from the complainant’s luggage.

8:57am A welfare concern was conducted on a resident on Park Place Street. Everything was fine.

9:36am A reckless driver was reported on South Pacific headed southbound. An officer responded to the area but did not find the vehicle. Lindale P.D. was notified.

10:10am A disturbance was reported in the Walmart Parking lot between a man and woman. Officers responded and was told by both of the subjects they were arguing because she would not go in and buy him some beer and fill his prescriptions.

12:56pm The woman in the argument at Walmart parking lot came to the department and wanted to file assault charges on her boyfriend from the argument earlier. The woman changed her story and said she was assaulted. A report was taken for family violence purposes. This is under investigation.

3:17pm A civil matter was reported when two women were arguing over a lease between the two of them. It was explained to the two that the matter is civil.

7:34pm A welfare concern was reported in reference to a 16 year old runaway out of Shreveport. Officers looked for the runaway and located him at a residence just outside the city.

2:32am Officers assisted with an emergency medical call at the CVS parking lot. A woman met EMS in the parking lot with a family member with a medical emergency. The family member was transported by EMS to a Tyler hospital.

10:19am A reckless driver was reported. An officer located the vehicle and followed the driver. No offense was observed by the officer.

5:24pm A purse was found at the train depot. The purse remains at the department until an owner is located.

5:42pm A reckless driver was reported to be unable to maintain a single lane at North Pacific and Greenville Avenue. An officer responded to the area and attempted to locate the vehicle but was unable to.

7:02pm A 911 call was received but the dispatcher could not understand the caller. The call was then lost. After attempting the contact several times the officer patrolled the area of Giraud but did not find the exact location of the call.

10:14pm A reckless driver was reported on South Pacific Street which was driving with no head lights. An officer attempted to locate the vehicle and a DPS Trooper was close in the area but did not observe the vehicle.

11:58pm A verbal disturbance was reported on West Front Street between family members during a family gathering. Officers responded to the call and found that one of the family members had left for the night.

6:24am Suspicious activity was reported on Baker Street at a residence the homeowner was thought to be out of town. The caller said the lights were on and should not be. An officer responded to the call and found the homeowner returned home early.

12:10pm A welfare concern was reported when a woman was walking in the roadway and cars were going around her. An officer responded to South Pacific Street and gave the woman a ride to her residence.

11:08pm A witness reported a shoplifter at Walmart and provided a License Plate Number. The department is working with Gilmer P.D. on the same suspects to recover property. Charges are pending.

11:43pm Stephen Lee Coop, 23, Austin, was arrested on NE Loop 564 for 2 outstanding warrants out of Smith County for felony Probation violations.

6:19am A reckless driver was reported on South Pacific Street weaving in and out of traffic. The vehicle turned off on a side street and was not located.

8:48am A stranded motorist reported she was out of fuel and needed help at South Pacific and the city limits. An officer transported the woman to get a gas can and to get fuel.

12:54pm A welfare concern was reported by a mother in reference to her adult daughter going with a man to another state. The mother then reported her daughter was back home safe.

3:04pm A business on East Broad Street reported a suspicious male hanging around the parking lot. An officer responded and was unable to locate the subject.

5:56pm A welfare concern was reported when a 911 call was received by Wood County S.O. in reference to a vehicle traveling 30mph on Hwy 69. The only description was that the vehicle had Louisiana license plates. An officer stopped a vehicle with the same license plates but determined it was not the vehicle reported.

8:36pm A caller reported she wished for an officer to conduct a welfare check on her friend, which was a resident on Sycamore Street.  An officer made contact and determined that everything was fine.

9:07pm Loud music was reported at a residence on Baker Street. An officer responded and spoke with the residents, which turned down the music.

12:12am A 911 hang up was received in the Front Street area. Several attempts were made to contact the caller back and an officer patrolled the area, attempting to locate the caller, but no contact was made.

1:17am A welfare concern was reported for a 16 year old male that had reportedly been at a party and had been involved in an altercation.  The juvenile was located on McDaniels Street and turned over to his parents.

1:57am A disturbance was reported on Rainbow Lane. When officers arrived they determined that a neighbor got upset because several were gathered outside at another residence next door. The neighbor told them to leave and they didn’t so he fired a handgun at the ground. The neighbor was cooperative and admitted to firing the gun, because he was concerned for his safety.  A citation was written for Disorderly Conduct for discharging the firearm.

10:05am A disturbance was reported at Newsom and Good Street when a man reported he was shot at twice by a passing car on Newsom Street. The man reported he had been threatened by the suspect in the past. During the investigation it was found to be a false report. Charges are pending for the false report. However, the threats are under investigation.

1:36pm A runaway was reported by the parents of a 15 year old male.  The juvenile was found by officers at a residence on Wigley Street and he was returned to his parents.

2:20pm A business on North Pacific Street reported their dumpster lock was cut.  A directed patrol has been issued.

3:51pm A disturbance was reported when a man reported a known subject tried to run over him at the intersection in town.  Officers responded and found what the man was reporting occurred in the county.

7:54pm A welfare concern was reported by a mother. The mother requested officers to check on her adult daughter that was at her boyfriend’s residence on South Pacific Street. Officers did check on the woman and she was fine.

9:00pm A woman brought 2 cell phones to the department and reported she had given a man a ride and he had left the phones in her vehicle. The man picked one phone up and said the other phone belonged to his boss. The boss was contacted and the phone was released to a family member.

11:16pm A man reported a verbal disturbance between he and his girlfriend’s roommate at a residence on Patten while the roommate was gathering her belongings. The reporting party left the residence when the officers arrived.

1:00am Officers assisted Wood County by securing a scene until deputies could arrive at the Budget Inn Motel on East Hwy. 80 when a woman reported she had been assaulted by a man.

8:49am A disturbance was reported on Dubose when a man hit the caller’s residence with a stick after the caller asked him to leave and he refused. When the officer arrived the subject was not there. The complainant requested a criminal trespass be issued to the subject. Contact was made with the subject and a criminal trespass was served.

9:03am A burglary of a vehicle was reported on Kings Lane. A pair of sunglasses and a girls bag with dance clothes and shoes were taken. The vehicle was not locked.

9:23am A backpack was found on North Line Street. The backpack had previously been reported missing and will be returned to the owner.

10:01am A wallet was placed in the drop box at the nature preserve. The wallet was returned to the owner.

3:37pm A woman reported she was helping a man get fuel for his vehicle that was stranded and while doing so, he stole her cell phone from her vehicle.

5:26pm A business on East Broad Street reported a disturbance when a customer was refusing to pay for their food. An officer responded and found the disturbance to be verbal only and the customer paid for the food.

7:53pm A welfare concern was reported when a caller reported a van with plastic on the windows to possibly be a human trafficker. The officer located the vehicle and knew it to belong to a local citizen that he was familiar with.

9:52pm Michael Lee Watts III, 37, of Sulphur Springs was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia when an officer made a traffic stop on NE Loop 564 for a traffic violation. Watts was a passenger in the vehicle and upon a search, the officer found a syringe in Watts’ sock.

10:10pm Parents of a high school student reported a possible threat of their daughter at school the following day. The incident was swiftly investigated and found to not be a direct threat. The school was notified and will be handling the situation.

11:55am Aaron’s reported Theft of Service from 3 customers that have not paid their lease and did not return the property. All the customers were contacted and agreed to return the property.

3:42pm A reckless driver was reported when a pickup turned onto the RR tracks on South Pacific Street and then went across the tracks and turned in at Cade’s. Officers responded and patrolled the area, but did not locate the vehicle.

4:01pm A woman reported a welfare concern for a man that came to her residence on Buchanan Street acting strange and then walked off. The man was last seen crossing the RR tracks on Stone Street. Officers found the man on Stone Street.  The man was transported to the police department and then transported to a motel for the night through Ministerial Alliance.

5:12pm Officers assisted EMS on a medical call on Graham Street.

8:29pm A resident on Francis Street reported hearing gunshots. An officer responded to the area and patrolled, looking and listening for the source, but did not hear any gunshots or find the source.

9:13pm A woman reported a man walking with a rifle in his hand and another one on his back in the area of North Johnson and North Pacific Street. An officer found a man at a store on North Pacific Street carrying paintball guns and a bag.

10:40pm A suspicious person was reported parked in a vehicle at the McFarland Community Center. An officer checked on the vehicle and found it to be sitting in the vehicle waiting on a text.

11:31pm An officer assisted the fire department with a call regarding a possible gas odor in a residence on North Pacific Street. Everything was fine.

12:42pm An officer met with a woman on North Johnson in reference to a civil matter involving her daughter. The officer found the daughter that walked away and spoke with her as well.

11:55pm Bobby James Smitty, 25, of Minnesota was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance under 1 gram and Raul Leonel Robles, 48, of Minnesota was arrested for Possession of Marijuana under 2 oz. after an officer stopped the vehicle they were traveling in on North Pacific for a traffic violation.
