Hawkins ISD is encouraging those attending Friday night's football game in Hawkins against Alba-Golden to wear gold to raise awareness for childhood cancer.
September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
"Childhood cancer is one of the leading causes of death in children in the United States," said Julie Chappa, Director of the Hawkins ISD National Honor Society. "We're encouraging everyone from Hawkins and Alba-Golden to wear gold in honor of childhood cancer awareness. We also have some survivors of childhood cancer in our district and they will be honored during the coin toss of the football game."
