Several local issues were voted on during yesterday’s elections.
In Winnsboro, the legal sale of beer and wine for off premises consumption passed 58% to 42% in the City of Winnsboro.
In Smith County the sale of beer and wine passed in precincts 1 and 4.
Hopkins County voters have approved a $16 million bond issue to build a new jail. The final vote was 1256 in favor and 1070 against. A 7 cent tax increase will pay for the bond.
