Wood County authorities have discovered a dead body that matches the description of the Alba man reported missing earlier this week.

According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, received a call came at 6:55 p.m. last night from Richard James, stating that he came across a body lying in a wooded area while he was checking his property," said Wood County Sheriff Bill Wansley.

"From the description of everything we had from Gerald Haley, we believe it to be him."

Haley reportedly left his residence early Tuesday morning after threatening to take his own life. A search for Haley ensued in the following days.

The body was sent to the ME’s office in Dallas for positive identification and cause of death.

At this time the Sheriff’s Office has found no evidence that indicates foul play.
