A lawsuit has been filed against General Motors regarding the death of Skylar Carpenter, the Quitman teenager killed last year after the SUV she and fellow FFA members were riding in rolled over in Van Zandt County.

Skylar’s parents, David and Becky Carpenter filed the suit in Federal Court. The lawsuit claims that Skylar was restrained in the vehicle, but not protected in the wreck. The lawsuit states General Motors is accused of knowing that the vehicle failed to provide adequate occupant protection in a rollover, and failed to provide adequate restraint throughout the entire accident.

Skylar was ejected from the SUV.
