Released by Lindale ISD
LINDALE-Casey Rivers once said he would never fly in an airplane. He said he would never leave his hometown of Lindale. He even said he would never leave Texas.
“When you have a dream, you pursue it,” Rivers said, laughing at his previous statements. “Sometimes there’s a different plan for you.”
Since graduating from Lindale High School in 2001, Rivers’ pursuit of his career dream has led him to Nashville and many airplane flights.
In 2006, Rivers competed on the USA Network’s Nashville Star, finishing the competition as the runner-up. He has appeared with such country music legends as Kenny Rogers, Loretta Lynn, Neal McCoy, Sara Evans, Jason Aldean, Big and Rich, and the Gatlin Brothers. Rivers has also appeared on the Grand Ole Opry Stage and toured with Nashville Star.
Rivers also worked with the band Beyond the Ashes and was nominated for two Dove Music Awards in 2012. The group traveled nationwide to over 200 dates each year and earned several top 10 Christian music singles. In July, Rivers announced plans to pursue a solo career.
Lindale, Texas never left his heart and now the country music artist is preparing to return for his first public performance in his hometown in two years.
Rivers will perform in RealEdge Real Estate-Lindale Presents Act II: Continuing a Tradition of Excellence this Saturday, November 17 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lindale ISD Performing Arts Center. The fine arts showcase will include performances by students of all ages. The showcase will include vocal and instrumental performances, lyrical dance routines, poetry and prose readings, and theatrical performances. Rivers will close the show with a 30 minute performance and be joined on stage by the Lindale High School and Lindale Junior High School choirs.
Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Lindale ISD Education Foundation. The Foundation provides grants for innovative teaching initiatives that exceed the day-to-day curriculum and are not funded or are under-funded by the school district’s operating budget.
Rivers is proud to return to support Lindale schools.
“I want to see the tradition of excellence Lindale ISD is known for continue and see students have the same opportunities that I did and even more,” Rivers said. “My dream is that the dream continues. I want every child, every teenager to have the same opportunities to succeed and continue that tradition of excellence.”
Rivers said his education in Lindale schools taught him not only academic lessons but life lessons.
