The recent news of a Lindale boy’s battle with West Nile has again put East Texans on alert of the virus.
Wade Gamblin is currently in a coma at a Dallas Hospital with West Nile and Meningitis. It’s believed Wade contracted West Nile while on a camping trip in East Texas.
Health officials say the threat of West Nile is absolutely still present in East Texas because the temperatures still are not consistently low enough to eliminate the risk. The North East Texas Health District still advises the public to protect themselves with DEET and appropriate clothing when heading outdoors in order to avoid the mosquito borne illness.
