Around 8 p.m. Thursday authorities said 36-year-old Kamron Geis of Van lost control of a 2008 Dodge and hit numerous trees on FM 16 near the Lindale Vet Clinic, pinning himself inside the vehicle.

Lindale Police attempted to pull Geis over prior to the crash.

"The Officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle," said Lindale Police Lt. David Craft. "The vehicle failed to stop for the Officer and the Officer turned his lights off and ended the traffic stop because he knew the driver wasn't going to stop for him. Two miles down the road is where the accident occurred."

A short time later DPS reported the accident.

Geis was pronounced dead at a Tyler Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.
