The Wood County Sheriff’s Department is investigating multiple copper thefts in the Winnsboro area.

According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, Deputies were dispatched yesterday to CR 4940 and were advised by an employee of Wood County Electric that the company had been notified of some low hanging power lines. When crews arrived to check the lines it was discovered that about 3,000 ft of copper wire had been stolen.

Also yesterday, Deputies responded to an alleged copper theft on CR CR 2695 near the Salesmanship Club Youth Camp. WCEC officials advised that about 2,100 ft of copper wire had been stolen.

Both cases are being investigated and suspects have been identified.
