What appears to be a gorgeous day in East Texas is one that poses dangers for boaters and lake goers.
Monday’s high winds have made for dangerous conditions on East Texas lakes.
“Anytime you have winds this high you want to exercise extreme caution on the water,” said KMOO Staff Meteorologist Doc Deason. “A lot of people want to fish before a cool front moves in and I understand that, but to be safe stay along the shore line and avoid getting out on to the lake.
Deason says East Texas has consistently seen wind gusts between 15 and 25 MPH Monday, but some have been higher.
“There was a 38 MPH gust at my office in Tyler,” Deason said. “I believe that has been the strongest all day.”
Deason says Monday’s high winds will blow into Tuesday.
A Lake Wind Advisory is in effect for the majority of East Texas until 6 p.m. Monday.
