Tyler Police arrested a man Wednesday night after he robbed an Army Navy store.
Police say, at approximately 8:45 p.m. two Tyler Police motorcycle traffic officers were riding by the store in the 1200 block of the SSE Loop. Officers heard an audible alarm coming from the business and stopped to investigate. The Officers located a large hole that had been cut into the back of the building. While awaiting the arrival of additional officers to check the building, a white male wearing black clothing was observed exiting the woods to the north of the business and proceeding across Loop 323. Officers detained the subject, who confessed to having broken into the building. The suspect, 20-year-old Richard Moore, was found to be in possession of a pair of gloves and a flashlight stolen from the business as well as a small axe that had been used to cut through the wall.
Moore was transported to ETMC for treatment of an unrelated cut on his leg and then take to the Smith County jail.
