A Wood County father and son were hospitalized Saturday after an argument over meth.

According to the Wood County Sheriff's Department, on Saturday, July 20, Deputies responded to a 911 assault call located inside the Brookhaven addition off FM 2869. When deputies arrived they located a white male with injuries to the throat and chest area. Authorities say the wounds appeared to have been inflicted by a knife. EMS arrived on scene and transported the victim to a Tyler hospital. Also located at the scene was an individual that was identified as the victim’s son, who was also transported to the hospital due to an overdose of methamphetamine and cocaine. Investigators were dispatched to the scene where a weapon was recovered as well as other evidence related to the crime scene.

The victim is expected to make a full recovery.

Wood County Sheriff Jim Brown says the facts indicate that the father and son got into an argument over the ownership of methamphetamine and a fight ensued. Allegedly, the son then stabbed the father in the chest and cut his throat.

The case is under investigation. Investigators are processing evidence and charges are expected to be filed upon completion of the investigation.
