Jorge Leal has been named administrator of ETMC Quitman, ETMC Senior Vice President for Affiliate Operations Jerry Massey announced this month.
"Jorge is known throughout the system as a team builder and a strong leader," Massey said. "His focus is providing quality, compassionate care to everyone who enters our facility."
Leal joined the ETMC Regional Healthcare System in November 2008 as associate administrator of ETMC Gilmer. He was promoted to administrator of that facility in December 2009. During his tenure, the hospital has achieved and maintained high levels of patient satisfaction. He will continue to serve as administrator for ETMC Gilmer for the time being.
He also served as chief operating officer of ETMC Pittsburg from January until he accepted the appointment in Quitman.
He replaces Warren Robicheaux, who has been named senior administrator of ETMC Pittsburg and the system's northern hospital group, which includes ETMC hospitals in Quitman, Gilmer, Pittsburg, Mount Vernon and Clarksville.
Leal earned both his bachelor's degree in biomedical science and his master's in health administration from Texas A&M University.
He serves on the Texas Hospital Association's Leadership Development Council, the Texas A&M University Health Science School of Rural Public Health MHA Alumni Advisory Board and the East Texas American College of Healthcare Executives' Executive Council. He is also a member of the Texas Organization of Rural & Community Hospitals.
He also serves on the American Hospital Association's Regional Policy Board 7 and as a state delegate to the association.
Active in the Gilmer community, Leal is a member of the Rotary Club of Gilmer and the Gilmer Chamber of Commerce. Leal and his wife, Arlene, make their home in Tyler and are active in the parish of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
"I am really looking forward to becoming active in the Quitman community," Leal said. "Our new facility creates a real sense of excitement at ETMC Quitman. I am thrilled to be joining the excellent staff and physicians there as we work together to improve healthcare for our patients."
