Lindale’s Friday night high school football “Blue Out” is turning pink in October.
The Lindale Independent School District is partnering with the City of Lindale and the Lindale Area Chamber of Commerce for a community-wide breast cancer awareness effort October 11-13.
LISD’s Pink Out is a district event to show support for breast cancer awareness and research. The 2013 Pink Out will be held on Friday, October 11 during the Eagles game against Whitehouse at Eagle Stadium at 7:30 p.m. This is LISD’s third year to host the Pink Out.
The Lindale High School Star Steppers and National Honor Society are selling Pink Out T-shirts for $10. T-shirt orders can be placed in the office of Lindale High School located at 920 E. Hubbard St. Eagle supporters are asked to wear the shirts to the October 11 game.
Proceeds from T-shirt sales will benefit the Trinity Mother Frances Ross Breast Center. Funds raised will allow for the continuance of breast cancer awareness education programs and may provide potentially lifesaving, screening mammograms to the underserved women of east Texas.
The Pink Out coincides with the City of Lindale and Lindale Area Chamber of Commerce’s Pinktoberfest, the grand opening celebration of Grammy award winning country music artist and Lindale High School graduate Miranda Lambert’s store, The Pink Pistol. The grand opening celebration will be held on Saturday, October 12 from noon-8:00 p.m. and on Sunday, October 13 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at The Pink Pistol located at 100 E. Hubbard St. in Lindale. Fans are hoping that Lambert will make an appearance during the store’s opening.
“Lindale is painting the town pink for the weekend,” said Lindale Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Shelbie Glover. “We want everyone to come out and enjoy a weekend filled with events and fun for the whole family.”
“Our Pink Out celebration is one of the best days of the year, not only for our students, but for the entire community,” Lindale ISD Superintendent Stan Surratt said. “It is wonderful to see everyone join together for such an important cause. This is going to be a great Lindale event and part of a wonderful weekend.”
