Wednesday morning at City Hall, Lindale Mayor Robert Nelson proclaimed October 23-31, 2013, Red Ribbon Week for the City of Lindale.

Nelson said communities across America have been plagued by the numerous problems associated with illicit drug use and those that in traffic in them. Red Ribbon Week was been established to bring this issue to light. The Red Ribbon was chosen as a symbol commemorating the work of a DEA agent murdered in the line of duty and represents the belief that one person can make a difference. 

The Red Ribbon Campaign was established by Congress in 1988.
