Will Riggs Small Market DJ of the Year

Tuesday afternoon Governor Rick Perry lead a team of elected officials including State Representative Dan Flynn (R-Van) in presenting the Texas Legislative Medal of Honor to the late Audie Murphy in a ceremony held on Freedom Plaza in Farmersville, TX. Murphy, who was born and raised in Hunt County, enlisted into the service in the basement of the Landmark in Greenville. To this day, Murphy remains the most decorated military serviceman in United States history.
"Audie Murphy embodied what it means to be a true Texan and American. Until his passing, Murphy always gave credit to God and his fellow soldiers for all he achieved," said State Representative Dan Flynn, who represents Hunt County as well as Hopkins and Van Zandt County. The award was accepted by Audie's sister Nadine. The Texas Legislative Medal of Honor is the highest award Texas can give and is traditionally awarded to those individuals who exhibited the highest level of service to our country and to Texas.
