The legend of George Jones will live on with the grand opening of the George Jones Museum in downtown Nashville the weekend of April 24, coinciding with the date he died two years ago (April 26).
George’s widow, Nancy, made the announcement on Jan. 12th and showed artistic renderings of the new space, which will reside at 128 2nd Ave. North, the former site of Graham Central Station. The museum will cover the Possum’s incredible journey in music, from his humble upbringing in Texas to his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1992 and beyond. Fans can expect to find clothing, artifacts, photographs and more.
The George Jones Museum space will also include a gift shop, a restaurant, event space and rooftop bar with sitting area that will surely provide an incredible view of downtown Nashville and the Cumberland River. No admission price has been set yet, but Nancy promised that it would be affordable for all.
Additionally (and quite appropriately), the museum opening will also feature the launch of White Lightning Moonshine in partnership with Kentucky-based Silver Trail Distillery. Named in honor of “White Lightnin’,” one of George’s signature songs, the new spirit will be part of a product line also including flavored vodkas.
