Just after 1pm Saturday, DPS Troopers responded to a two vehicle fatal crash on US-79 in the city limits of New Summerfield. The investigators preliminary report indicates that the driver of a 2006 Chevrolet Impala was traveling westbound on US-79. At the same time, the driver of 2007 Saturn Relay towing a utility trailer, was traveling eastbound on US-79. For an unknown reason, the driver of the Chevrolet crossed into the eastbound lane and stuck head on with the Saturn.
The driver of the Impala was identified as 52 year old Ronald Lewis Williams, of Jacksonville. Williams was pronounced at the scene by Judge Brenda Dominey and was taken to Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville. A passenger, identified as 21 year old Ariana Lashell Richardson, of Jacksonville was also pronounced at the scene by Judge Dominey and taken to Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville. A female infant, also a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced at the scene by Judge Dominey and was taken to Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville. The driver of the Saturn was identified as 83 year old Bobby G. Johnson, of Sage AR. Johnson was transported to UT-Health – Tyler in critical condition. A passenger in his vehicle, identified as 80 year old Katherine June Johnson, of Sage AR, was pronounced at the scene by Judge Dominey and was taken to Autry Funeral in Jacksonville.
The crash remains under investigation and no further information is available at this time
