Wood County Criminal District Attorney Angela Albers announced that her office was successful in prosecuting 35 criminal cases by way of guilty pleas in the 402nd Judicial District Court with the Honorable J. Brad McCampbell presiding, during the month of May.

The Wood County Criminal District Attorney’s Office is working hard to dispose of felony and misdemeanor cases consistent with justice. During the Covid 19 Pandemic and restrictions concerning in-person hearings, it was difficult to move cases. We have spent the last several months getting cases set for pleas in both the county and district courts,” said Wood County Criminal District Attorney Angela Albers.

Among those sentenced in district court were:

Meagan Renae Sims was convicted of 4 counts of Sexual Assault of a Child and sentenced to 15 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division and lifetime registration as a sex offender; $1,000 fine plus costs of courts.

Michael Shaun Smith was convicted of Aggravated Kidnapping with a Deadly Weapon and sentenced to 16 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division; $10,000 fine; $3,695 restitution and costs of court.

Christopher Roy Mosher was convicted of Prohibited Substance/Item in a Correctional Facility; Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1, four grams or more but less than 200 grams; Prohibited Substance in a Correctional Facility- Alcohol/Drug/Phone/Tobacco and was sentenced to 7 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division on each case; $1,000 fine plus costs of court.

Felix Ramirez Rodriguez was convicted of Driving While Intoxicated and sentenced to 120 days in the Wood County Jail plus costs of court.

Bobby James Smitty was convicted of Possession of Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, less than one gram and was sentenced to 2 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice probated for 2 years; $500 fine, $180 restitution and costs of cost.

Jennifer Leigh Clanton was convicted of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, one gram or more but less than four grams and was sentenced to 10 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice probated for 6 years; $500 fine and $180 restitution plus costs of court.

Veda Hope Vellenoweth was convicted of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and was sentenced to 120 days in the Wood County Jail; $2,500 restitution plus costs of court.

Hayden Lynn Foreman was convicted of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, one gram or more but less than four grams and sentenced to 5 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division plus costs of court.

Leon Don Lane was convicted of Assault Causing Bodily Injury - Family Violence and was sentenced to 1 year in the Wood County Jail plus costs of court. Lane was also convicted of Tampering with a Witness and sentenced to 5 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division; $1,000 fine and costs of court.

Johnny Ray Tudor Jr. waived indictment and pled guilty to Tamper/Fabricate Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair and was sentenced to 5 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutional Division probated for 5 years along with a $1,500 fine plus costs of court. Tudor also pled guilty to Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, less than one gram and was sentenced to 2 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice State Jail Facility probated for 5 years; $180 reimbursement fee plus costs of court.

Thomas Vincent Meek was convicted of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and sentenced to 9 months in the Wood County Jail plus costs of court.

Christopher Paul Starrett was convicted of Assault Causing Bodily Injury Family/Household Member and was sentenced to 9 months in the Wood County Jail plus costs of court.

Douglas Edward Gilliam was convicted of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, less than one gram and was sentenced to 2 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice - State Jail Division plus costs of court.

Meghan Michelle Lambert was convicted of Manufacture Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, four grams or more but less than 200 grams and sentenced to 10 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice - Institutional Division; $2,000 fine plus costs of courts.

Michael Lee McKinley was convicted of Theft of Property, less than $2,500 with two or more previous convictions and sentenced to 6 months in the Wood County Jail plus costs of court.

Hugo Eduardo Hernandez was convicted of Attempt to Commit Escape while Arrested/Confined and sentenced to 10 months in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice State Jail Facility plus costs of court.

Anita Desiree Stockstill was convicted of Burglary of a Habitation and sentenced to 3 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice - Institutional Division plus costs of court.

Brandon Scott Hicks was revoked on his probation for the offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, less than one gram and was sentenced to 2 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice – State Jail Division; $675 fine and costs of court. Hicks was also convicted of Driving While Intoxicated Third or more and was sentenced to 5 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice – Institutional Division and costs of court.

Johnny Kevin Crawford Jr. was convicted of Theft of Property - $2,500 or more but less than $30,000 and Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, less than gram and was sentenced to 18 months in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice State Jail Division; $500 fine plus costs of court. Crawford was also convicted on 3 counts of Burglary of a Building and sentenced to 6 months in the State Jail Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice; $1,568 restitution and costs of court.

Brian Lee Barnett was convicted of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and sentenced to 6 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice - Institutional Division; $1,000 fine and costs of court.

Anthony Jay Chamberlain was convicted of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, less than one gram and sentenced to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice - State Jail Division for a period of 12 months; $1,000 fine and costs of court.

Mason Monday was convicted of Evading Arrest Detention with Vehicle- Use or Exhibit Deadly Weapon and sentenced to 7 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice - Institutional Division plus costs of court. Monday was also convicted of Evading Arrest Detention with a previous conviction and sentenced to 6 months in the Wood County Jail plus costs of court.

Coleton Taylor Shrum was convicted of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, less than one gram and sentenced to 10 months in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice - State Jail Division; $500 fine and costs of court.

Brandon Wayne Sharp was convicted of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and sentenced to 8 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice - Institutional Division plus costs of court.
