On Tuesday Night, we were in Mineola for the 13-3A baseball matchup between the Mineola Yellowjackets and the Harmony Eagles. We were treated to an outstanding game. Both starting pitchers had shutouts going for them through 7 innings. Spencer Joyner for Mineola, pitched 7 and 2/3 innings, giving up 1 run on 9 hits, walking 2 and striking out 6. Freshman Tittle for Harmony was even better. He pitched 8 shutout innings, allowing just 4 hits, no walks and 4 strikeouts. We were scoreless through 7 innings and headed to the 8th tied at 0. In the top of the 8th inning, Cooper Wadding hit a double off the wall with 1 out. Freshman Riley Patterson came up to bat with 2 away in the inning and a runner at 2nd base. He hit a single up the middle allowing Wadding to come in and score to give Harmony a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the 8th, it looked like Mineola was y to answer right back. Thomas Hooton roped a double to left-center field with 1 out in the inning. Kaden Bell came up next and hit a ball back to the pitcher. Hooton was tagged out at 3rd, but Bell reached 2nd on the fielders choice. With 2 outs in the inning, Levi Bowden came in to pinch run for Bell. Harmony executed the hidden ball trick on a pickoff and tagged Bowden out at 3rd to end the game and secure a 1-0 victory over Mineola.
