GIRLS BASKETBALL FINAL
The Quitman Lady Bulldogs and the Harmony Lady Eagles battled in a district contest Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Bulldogs lead wire to wire. Quitman led Harmony 11-8 at the end of the 1st quarter and by halftime they had extended their lead to 10 at 23-13. The third quarter was much of the same as the Lady Bulldogs stretched their lead out to 17 at 37-20. Quitman’s biggest lead of the night was the final score of 50-30. Leading the way for Quitman was Kaysi Parker. She recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. For Harmony it was Lanie Trimble leading the way with 14 points, including hitting 7 of her 8 free throws.
BOYS BASKETBALL FINAL
Quitman and Harmony opened up district play Tuesday afternoon. This game was tight throughout. Quitman led after the 1st quarter by a score of 15-10. By halftime, the Bulldogs led the Eagles 26-18. At the end of the 3rd quarter, Quitman was up 47-34 and the Bulldogs ended up winning the district opener 58-48. Harmony struggled from the free throw line and that ended up being the difference in the game. As a team, the Eagles were 14-34 at the charity stripe. Leading the way for Quitman was Levi Thompson with 28 points. Boston Seahorn lead the Eagles with 21 points.
