The Yantis Lady Owls hosted the Avery Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday Night. Avery opened the game strong and led at the end of the 1st quarter by 5 at 12-7. In the second quarter, the Yantis defense was suffocating and didn’t allow Avery to score a point while the offense scored 16 to take a 23-12 halftime lead. In the 3rd quarter, Yantis was able to pull away a little more as they led 35-21 as we headed to the 4th. Avery fought back, but Yantis was able to secure the 48-37 win over the Lady Bulldogs. For Yantis, Liz Chitwood had a career night. She had 26 points, 9 rebounds, 16 steals and 6 blocks. She ended the game 1 rebound shy of a triple-double. Kinley Hurley crashed the glass for the Lady Owls hauling in 11 rebounds. For Avery, Jalyn Ingram led the way with 21 points and 11 rebounds.

The Yantis Owls and the Avery Bulldogs battled in a thriller Tuesday Night in Yantis. Avery jumped out to an early lead of 14-5 after the 1st quarter. The offense woke up for the Owls in the 2nd quarter and Yantis led at halftime 25-24. Yantis increased their lead to 5 by the end of the 3rd and led 45-40. The 4th quarter was full of action as both teams were trading buckets. Yantis led 59-55 with 15 seconds remaining in the game. Avery was able to hit a three pointer with 1 second left on the clock and the Owls converted their free throws and won the game 61-58. Leading the way for the Owls was the duo of Nikolas Johnson and Alex Lopez. Johnson led the team with 24 points and 8 rebounds, while Lopez added in 21 points himself. For Avery, Aidan Cantrell led the way with 19 points.
