The Alba-Golden Panthers hosted the Como-Pickton Eagles on Friday Night. Como-Pickton struck first in the top of the 1st inning when Kevin Hernandez and Micah Flemens came into score following a couple of errors by the Alba-Golden defense. The Panthers answered back in the bottom of the 1st inning. The Panthers sent 11 batters to the plate and scored 5 runs, including RBI singles by Tyler Perez and Michael Lacy. Alba-Golden led after 1 inning 5-2. In the bottom of the 2nd inning, Chaelton Cook reached base with a double, and Tyler Perez brought him home with an RBI single to give Alba-Golden a 6-2 lead after 2 innings. The Panthers would add another run in the bottom of the 4th inning after Easton Campbell led the inning off with a triple and came around to score. The Alba-Golden Panthers would get the win by a score of 7-2 and secure the Panthers first baseball district championship in school history. Leading the way at the plate for Alba-Golden was Tyler Perez. He was 2-2 at the plate and reached base in all 4 plate appearances with 2 RBI’s and a run scored. Chaelton Cook was very good on the mound. He pitched all 7 innings, allowing just 2 runs on 3 hits while striking out 9 and walking no one. For Como-Pickton, the 3 hits came from Micah Flemens, Dalton Morgan and Braxton Andrews.
