Grand Saline 2

The Rains Wildcats and the Grand Saline Indians battled with 1st place on the line Tuesday Night. Grand Saline got on the board first with an RBI double by Jase Melton which brought in Brett Kindle to give the Indians a 1-0 lead after 1 inning. In the 2nd inning, Cameron Teague doubled followed by Jack Patterson reaching on an error and Hayden Fuller loaded up the bases after being hit by a pitch. Eric Bacon hit a 2 run double to give the Wildcats a 2-1 lead. Hayden Fuller scored on a passed ball to make it 3-1. Nick Bowman reached base with a single and Grant Guidry brought him home with an RBI triple to give the Wildcats a 4-1 advantage after 2 innings. Rains added another run in the 5th inning after Audie McAree reached base on an error and stole 3 bases to come around and score to give Rains a 5-2 lead after 5 innings. In the top of the 7th inning, Brett Kindle reached base on a walk and came around to score following an error by Rains. Jace Mercer hit into a game ending double play to give the Rains Wildcats a 5-2 victory. Leading the way for Rains was Eric Bacon. Bacon pitched 6 and 1/3 innings, allowing just 2 runs on 3 hits while walking 5 and striking out 9. He also had a 2 run double in the 2nd inning. For Grand Saline, Cooper Brown went 2-3 with a double and a single.
